“My name is Kaitlynne, and I am 37 years old. Approximately three years ago, my life changed overnight when I experienced a sharp pain in my left arm. The very next day, I woke up with many severe changes to my health. My ring and my pinky finger were both numb and almost paralyzed, was struggling with the mobility in my wrist, and my vision and hearing decreased. My ears were constantly ringing, I always had a severe migraine, and I could not walk without falling over. I struggled standing up, I was slurring my words, and felt like my whole body was on fire. I could not think nor concentrate. My health has always been good before this so this was life changing.
After seeing a multitude of different doctors and specialists, I was diagnosed with a Chiari malformation, fibromyalgia, a hemi-vertebra off my C5, levoscoliosis, and an extra cervical rib that wrapped itself around my neck under my clavicle and is attached to my sternum. I was born with all these congenital anomalies, but all these diagnoses were brand new to me. I also was born with my C1 and C2 fused together. I did not know about any of these anomalies until about six months to a year after seeing an array of different doctors and having multiple imaging done.
Current day, due to all my congenital anomalies, I suffer from many different symptoms like chronic fatigue, chronic musculoskeletal pain, chronic nerve pain, imbalance/vertigo, extreme cognitive difficulties, muscle weakness throughout my whole body, changes in my voice, extreme stiffness throughout my body, swallowing difficulties, and my memory is extremely bad. The doctors said I was inoperable for any type of surgery to relieve the symptoms from the Chiari due to all my other congenital anomalies; that this was going to be a long journey, and all they could do was keep me as comfortable as they could. Unfortunately, this was now my new normal.
As part of treating my symptoms, I currently partake in physical, vestibular, neuro, occupational, and speech therapies. Rehab Without Walls has saved me both mentally and physically. I can honestly say therapy has changed my life for the best. It was extremely challenging adjusting to my new normal but without the tremendous help and stellar treatment by Rehab Without Walls, I would not be as well-adjusted today. They have the best equipment and the best therapists needed to help with any type of therapy you may need. They are extremely personable and very attentive to your own unique needs. Most importantly, their therapists are extremely enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable about what they can do to help their patients have the absolute best quality of life and mobility!
I had my very first interaction with Rehab Without Walls via a phone call to schedule my therapy. I remember how professional, kind, and caring the person on the other end of the line was. Once I started my therapy, I could see they were different. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Rehab Without Walls. I would easily recommend them to anyone who needs therapy treatment.
I want to personally thank the following employees of Rehab Without Walls with whom I, personally, had the pleasure of working with during my therapies: Kaitlynn, Jill, Christi, Krishna, Anil, Lori, Daniel, Julie, and finally, Cat. You all have forever changed my life. You all have given me so much strength and hope. I would not be where I am present day without your help! So, thank you all, and thank you sincerely!” – Kaitlynne, RWW Patient
